What To Expect from the GoPro Game Show
The clouds are giving way to sunshine and Sunday will be the day that the Toyota One Hit Wonder Big Air finally gets to see some action. Though with the foregone week of wild weather blowing the event schedule out the window, what exactly can we expect from tomorrow?
We are excited to announce that the event will be reconnecting with its roots... A handpicked field of skiers and snowboarders sessioning one of the biggest jumps in the world right now under sunny Spring skies; welcome to the inaugural GoPro Game Show.
Skiers and boarders will have their names drawn out of a hat to be randomly split into 6 teams. Each team will be given a GoPro camera and accessories kit. Teams then have all day to jump and film. Cash will be awarded as follows:
The Oscar | $2000. Awarded to the best team cut (no longer than 60 secs) edited on the GoPro Quik app and uploaded to Instagram with the tags @goproanz @onehitwonderdu #onehitwonderdu #goprogameshow. Judged by the Toyota One Hit Wonder crew who will be looking for a combination of big tricks, smooth style, creative editing and good vibes.
Best Freeski Trick | $1000 + HERO5. Awarded to the sickest ski trick of the day. Judged by the skiers.
Best Snowboard Trick | $1000 + HERO5. Awarded to the sickest snowboard trick of the day. Judged by the snowboarders.
Something New | $1000 + HERO5 SESSION. Awarded to the person with the most creative interpretation of the course. Or for landing something with either the kind of technical or style never before seen. Or both. It goes to the athlete whose trick everyone at the end of the day is still talking about. Judged by all the athletes.
The last 3 categories will be judged and awarded at the jump site at the end of the day.
Watch some of the GoPro action from last year.
The Toyota One Hit Wonder Big Air was originally created as an excuse to hit big jumps with mates, so it will be a thrill to highlight the vibe that has
been the foundation of the event since 2009. The One Hit Wonder Mountain Festival week is the biggest party week of the year in Thredbo with live music
and DJ's all week culminating tonight with an insane line-up kicking off at the First Base Apres Soiree. Just make sure you're able to get yourself to the jump-site to check out the action (it's
the massive pile of snow above the Cruiser Chairlift with the 12ft RAV4 ice sculpture.
